HR Generalist

At High Grade we are focused on producing connoisseur, top quality, and patient first cannabis. We are looking for a HR Generalist (HRG) that can facilitate that environment while envisioning the future state of the cannabis industry to lead the way in the Michigan market. The HRG provides support for day-to-day functions and facilitates implementation, coaching, tracking/reporting in all areas of HR. They are the first point of contact for managers and employees with questions about policies and procedures, performance management, employee relations, and engagement. They are focused on frequent, accurate, timely communications and processes that enable efficient interactions between all departments. Collaboration across the organization to ensure the HR operations and organizational culture are aligned with growing the capability of the team and scaling administrative functions will be a cornerstone of the role. The HRG is expected to operate under the highest standards of compliance and professionalism. As the HRG , you will need to create and maintain an open-door policy serving as primary contact for managers, employees and any others that may seek information related to HR.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on HR strategy for the overall company
  • Directly supporting the department managers regarding HR functionality. Providing guidance and interpretation of HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, regulations
  • Support all areas of HR; including performance management, engagement, culture, organizational development, employment law, and execution of company initiatives
  • Supports talent acquisition, building talent pipeline, supporting talent development programs
  • Partners with department managers to understand organizational needs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all HR compliance laws and regulations related to day -to -day management of employees
  • Provides day -to -day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions)
  • Work with operational leaders to mitigate potential risk, by providing strong employee relations support and guidance
  • Works closely with management and employees to build morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Partner/conduct ER related instances
  • Prepare and maintain employment records related to hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions; maintain and update HR documents

Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or 3+ years in HR in lieu of degree.
  • HR certifications (PHR or SHRM -CP) a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity or certification in Michigan employment laws
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to influence people; must be capable of effectively interacting at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem -solving skills.
  • Detail oriented with an eye on process optimization as it relates to HR.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proper employment documentation and authorized to work in the US.
