Assistant Controller

Job description
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in managing the financial operations of Pharmacann, with primary responsibility for overseeing the Company’s general accounting operations. This role is accountable for the Company’s monthly close process and financial reporting process, assisting in the preparation of the Company’s tax filings, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The Assistant Controller reports directly to Pharmacann’s Corporate Controller.
Duties and responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of the Pharmacann’s accounting operations, including general accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and local tax compliance, while ensure strong financial control systems, policies and procedures.
Function as key liaison for Finance function between Company’s external customers, suppliers, banking relationships, as well as Pharmacann cultivation facilities and dispensaries.
Assist in preparation of Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements as required under US GAAP and IFRS
Manage and supervise the Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting teams
Lead the month-end closings, including review and oversight of account reconciliations and preparation of the monthly financial reporting package, as well the corporate consolidation
Assist in development and oversight of Company’s standard costing and inventory reconciliations
Implement and monitor internal control systems and make necessary changes as the company continues to grow and evolve
Serve as key liaison between Finance and IT in the management and implementation of the Company’s ERP system (Microsoft NAV)
Assist in the development of annual budgets, strategic plans and other financial forecasts
Coordinate the preparation of the annual audit and manage the relationship with external auditors

Focused on continuous improvement and implementing best practice
Previous experience leading and developing a high performing team
Previous experience with financial ERP system
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel to other locations as needed – Flexible schedule during critical reporting times.
Strong analytical skills and direct experience with financial modeling
Ability to consistently exercise strong judgment and problem-solving skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
6+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting or control
CPA Required
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Products
